Call for co-Editor-in-Chief
Hepatology, Medicine and Policy (HMAP), an open access journal in the BioMed Central publishing family, is seeking applications for a co-Editor-in-Chief to address the more clinical aspects of the journal. HMAP considers articles on the prevention and management of viral and non-viral hepatitis and other liver disorders, including articles on the public health, policy and biomedical dimensions of these conditions.
HMAP is guided by an editorial board made up of regional and international experts in their fields and has a widely read blog under the “HMAP” tag on BioMed Central’s “On Health” blog. The journal is proud to be affiliated with the World Hepatitis Alliance and the International Network for Hepatitis in Substance Users.
The cooperative role of co-Editor-in-Chief is intended for a clinician with extensive knowledge in the field of hepatology. The main responsibilities of this co-Editor-in-Chief will be to review submissions and assign them to an associate editor as relevant; to promote the journal; to maintain and expand the group of associate editors and the editorial board; and to be involved in strategic discussions on all aspects of the journal with BMC and journal partners.
Members of the international liver disease community are invited to nominate themselves or others. To submit a nomination or ask for more information please contact Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey V. Lazarus (email@example.com) and/or the Journal Development Manager at BioMed Central Liz Hoffman (Liz.Hoffman@biomedcentral.com). If you are nominating yourself, please include a short statement of interest, the reasons you feel qualified for the position as well as a full list of your publications. You are welcome to include a full academic CV. If you are nominating a colleague, please include a short statement detailing why the colleague is qualified for the position from your perspective, as well as whether or not you have been in contact with them regarding the nomination.
Ideal candidates should have experience handling manuscripts through peer review as an Editor in roles such as chief editor or associate editor for a peer-reviewed journal. The Editor should have experience in peer-reviewing articles, commissioning articles, and preferably assigning articles to editors. They should also be able to work as a team with other editors and the publishing company, and be professionally critical in a manner that contributes positively to the growth of the journal. The co-Editors-in-Chief will share the honoraria and travel funds.
The final decision is subject to approval by BioMed Central, HMAP’s publisher, in addition to the senior editorial board.
Nominations are due by 30th September 2017.
